Overview

The Cosumnes Fire Department CERT Program is a tuition-free class, developed to fill the growing need for a well-trained, civilian workforce with disaster preparedness skills.

Prerequisite:  Participants must be 16 years of age and possess a valid California Driver’s License.

The CERT program provides community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to be self-sufficient in the event of a major disaster or emergency. CERT members often work in teams. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to disaster victims, and may assist with directing other volunteers in the initial phases of an emergency.

The CERT program also supports and participates in non-emergency projects and events (such as community events and public safety funerals). CERT participation in both emergency and non-emergency events helps improve the safety of our community.
