Award-Winning Elk Grove Nature Park

Elk Grove Nature Park walking path

The Elk Grove Nature Park recently received the 2022 Sustainable & Climate Change Engineering Project of the Year award by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Sacramento Section.

Utilizing a green infrastructure approach, the Elk Grove Nature Park located behind the Cosumnes CSD Administration Building at 8820 Elk Grove Boulevard helps manage stormwater runoff, provides wildlife habitat, promotes environmental awareness, and contributes to the well-being of our Elk Grove Community.

The first phase of this new park includes over a quarter-of-a-mile of new walkways, seating areas for relaxation, interpretive signage for education, and natural areas for wildlife to thrive. Future phases of construction are planned, as funding becomes available, to include a nature play area, a visitor center, and additional stormwater management planters.

This park was made possible by the support of our partners: SMUD's Shine Award Program, CivicWell, National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), and Urban Rain Design.
